Installation, compatibility and updates
May I reinstall an older version of Setup Studio with
a new build?
Yes. You can run a newer trial version over your activated version. The program
and the database will be updated, but your license wil be preserved, there is no
need to reactivate.
Which Windows versions are supported by Setup Studio?
Setup Studio supports the following combinations and license versions: Windows XP
Home, Windows XP Professional, Retail, OEM, Volume and Educational licenses, RTM,
SP1 and SP2 builds, and all the 25 language editions.
Programs support and switches
My program does not appear on the supported programs list.
How can I add it?
It is not possible directly. Feel free to contact us at support forums with program
support requests. We will strive to add support for a particular program as soon
as possible.
I have a couple of useful silent switches; will you add
them to the list?
Yes we will. We will check them for validity and add them if they prove to be working.
After using a tweak, I experience erratic Windows behavior.
What should I do?
Check your tweaks selected in project and find out about possible conflicts with
your setup. Eventually, contact us for help.
Technical issues
I added a mass storage driver and my installation project
fails at basic Windows setup. Why?
Setup Studio cannot guarantee that a particular driver will work. You must test
it yourself. If your driver works in standard installation and you still experience
problem in Setup Studio installation, contact us immediately and we will find a
solution for you.
May I add a computer game to the project?
Unfortunately not. Copy protection on games media effectively prevents copying the
contents to other storage and run it without need to apply special hacks. Also today's
games occupy many gigabytes of storage space. Given the capacity of DVD media, it
would be impossible to create a project that would contain data that large.
Some hotfixes that appear in Windows Update do not show
up in Setup Studio.
It's ok. The Setup Studio hotfix list is an almost perfect copy of Windows Update.
However, some of the hotfixes such as Windows Installer 3.1 and NET.Framework 2.0
must always be included in project. Therefore, even if they do not appear on the
list, they are always included in the installation.
I have probably found a bug. What should I do?
Please visit our customer forums and post it in the Bugs section. Please follow
the guidelines that are on the top of the section; it will help us to narrow and
address the bug more easily.
Do I need to activate Windows installed by Setup Studio
project?
Yes. Setup Studio installation doesn't differ from the standard installation in
that way.Setup Studio doesn't address Windows activation issues. Everything that
applies for standard installation regarding activation, also applies for Setup studio
installation.
Why aren't the programs I added to the program list installed?
You have probably made a conceptual mistake by adding already installed programs
"from the desktop" to the project. Setup Studio uses installation packages of those
programs,
not the files of installed programs themselves.

I purchased a license, but have not yet received a licence
key.
There were either problems on our servers, or you didn't receive an e-mail due to
third party problems such as antispam filters etc. Contact us immediately to resolve
the problem.
How do you ship your products?
We provide Setup Studio exclusively through the internet in form of a download.
The box on the Home page is virtual, you can't find it in retail stores.
Which country's currency is used for my order?
The payment transaction is mediated by PayPal and realized in US Dollars automatically.
It is not technically possible to pay in another currency. If you have a PayPal
account or a credit card account in another currency, the conversion to US dollars
is done automatically and before the purchase. The conversion rates are either standard
PayPal rates or rates issued by your local bank branch. Studio Software Ltd. cannot
hold any liability for the rates.
May I sell the license?
Yes, send us an email and we will arrange a transfer to a new account for you. Your
account credentials at Setup studio servers will be transferred to new license holder.
